TAPISKWAN WORKSHOP

SPECIFIC ACTIVITY IN THE PROJECT’S PROGRAM

DRAWING BOOTCAMP -

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES OF ACTIVITY
LOREM IPSUM DOLOR SI AMET -

Anybody can participate regardless
of any drawing experience whatsoever.

NEEDS

(logistics, equipment, materials, space, skills, expertise, time needed /duration, costs) Pencils; paper (e.g. computer paper, letter size); tracing paper; images (photos or photocopies) of objects and patterns that are significant for the community. The trainer is usually someone who masters drawing. The activity requires tables, and if possible, windows with natural light.

STEPS

  1. Drawing warm-up - the trainer asks the participants to draw half a page of lines, half a page of circles, half a page of triangles, half a page of squares... [insérer détails de conseils donnés par Cédric].
  2. The trainer spreads all of the images on a table, and participants select one image that speaks to them. Then, using a pencil and tracing paper, they place the image on a window and trace it in 10 minutes. When time is up, they all post their drawing on the wall and the trainer provides feedback.
  3. Same as Step 2, but this time the tracing is done in 5 minutes.
  4. Same as step 2, but this time in 2 minutes.
  5. On white paper, the participants are asked to draw their image from memory in 10 minutes. They post their drawing next to their tracings and compare them to the original image. NOTE that the comments of the trainer do not have to do with the participants' drawing abilities per se, but rather on the differences between approaches (e.g. very detailed but incomplete tracing vs rough but complete tracing vs some parts detailed, others rushed, etc... What do these approaches tell us about what matters to the participant about the image they chose, and about their attitude towards observation, etc?)
